THE FIRM
One firm. Two Service paths. No handoffs.
Migration Studios serves discerning clients across the Treasure Valley, Wood River Valley, McCall, and select national projects. Every engagement begins with listening — what the site demands, how you actually live, what the building wants to become — and ends with a space that reflects all three.
We offer architect-led design-build, where a single firm holds responsibility for both design and construction, and full-service architecture for clients with an existing contractor relationship. Both paths share the same commitment to design integrity, preconstruction rigor, and the close collaboration only possible at our scale.

PRINCIPAL
Cam Minor, AIA
Owner & Design Principal
Cam grew up among the hardworking men and women of Idaho — his grandfather founded Idaho Truss in 1974, his father built Idaho Lumber, and the family hardware store in Hailey was the backdrop of his childhood. The technical language of builders, the rhythm of job sites, the particular satisfaction of something made well: these were formative, not incidental.
Before architecture school, he worked his family's organic alfalfa farm on the Snake River. The land taught him things no classroom could — how a site has its own logic before you touch it, how decisions made without understanding the ground beneath you compound into problems no amount of craft can fix. He carried those instincts to the University of Colorado, where a Master's in Architecture gave them language. It named what he already knew.
At Tres Birds Workshop in Denver he found a practice that took sustainability seriously as a discipline — not a checklist, but a way of thinking across architecture, materials, ecology, and
construction at once. Progressive systems thinking. Less as more. The belief that a building should bring wellbeing to the people inside it and leave the surrounding ecosystem better than it found it. These were ideas Cam recognized. They matched the instincts formed on the Snake River. But they were still, at that point, ideas.
Migration Studios is where they became a practice. Back in Idaho, Cam earned his general contractor license alongside his architectural registration — a combination uncommon enough that most clients have never encountered it. It changes how he designs: every decision made with an understanding of what it costs to build, how a subcontractor will read the detail, where value gets lost in the gap between drawing and construction. The firm works at the intersection of those two disciplines because Cam has held both licenses. Not as a marketing position. As a way of working.
