BALD MOUNTAIN - Ketchum, Idaho
The Bald Mountain Residence is a 5,500 square foot luxury home nestled beside a creek in Ketchum, Idaho — a project that set out to prove that high-performance sustainable design and uncompromising architectural beauty are not competing ambitions.
As a sustainable luxury architect in Ketchum Idaho, Cam Minor, AIA led this project from first sketch through construction documents, shaping every design decision with the precision and intent the Wood River Valley deserves. The material palette — structural steel, reclaimed timber, and natural stone — creates an industrial-modern aesthetic that feels genuinely rooted in its landscape rather than imported from elsewhere. These are materials with weight and permanence, detailed with the rigor that comes from an architect deeply committed to what gets built.
A 10 kilowatt solar array harnesses Ketchum's abundant high-altitude sunlight, significantly offsetting the home's energy demands without compromise to its architectural integrity. Sustainability here is not a feature added at the end — it is embedded in the orientation, the envelope, and the mechanical systems from the earliest stages of design.
The home sits beside a serene creek with sweeping mountain views across the surrounding Idaho landscape. Living spaces are positioned to make the most of both — the water close and immediate, the mountains expansive beyond. It is a home designed for generations, built to the standard that the Wood River Valley deserves.
