Architizer A+ Award Finalist. The Pool House and Sport Barn complex in Sun Valley, Idaho is among the most recognized projects in Migration Studios' portfolio — and one of the most quietly radical.

The program is ambitious: a swimming pool, hot tub, sport barn, and covered outdoor living spaces, all on a rural Idaho site where the surrounding landscape sets a high bar for anything built within it. Rather than consolidating the program into a single dominant structure, Cam Minor, AIA proposed something less expected — a collection of small, distinct buildings working together as one cohesive architectural family. Each structure is scaled to the human body and the immediate landscape rather than to the ambitions of the program it serves.

This approach is rooted in Migration Studios' conviction that Idaho's most enduring architecture has always been modest in scale and honest in material. The historic ranch complexes of the Snake River Plain, the working farm clusters of the Wood River Valley — these were never single monolithic buildings. They were collections of purposeful structures, each one doing its job with clarity and without excess. The Pool House complex draws directly from that vernacular tradition, reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens that is unmistakably of this moment.

The result is a compound that belongs to its site — that reads as something that could have been there for generations, even as it delivers every modern amenity with precision and elegance.
