DOUBLE R RANCH - Idaho Snake River

The Double R Ranch Bunkhouse is the product of a decade-long collaboration between Migration Studios and one of our most trusted ranch clients — a relationship built on patience, shared vision, and a deep respect for the land along Idaho's Snake River.

This is not a home that was designed and built in a single campaign. It evolved organically over ten years, taking shape as older structures across the ranch were carefully dismantled. Rather than sourcing new materials, the design made a deliberate commitment to ranch architecture built from reclaimed materials — salvaged timber, weathered siding, and repurposed hardware that carry the history of the property within them.

The result is a bunkhouse that feels entirely of its place. Every beam and board has a story that predates the building itself, creating an authenticity that no new material can replicate. The architecture doesn't announce itself — it settles into the Snake River landscape the way working ranch buildings always have, with quiet permanence and no pretense.

For Migration Studios, the Double R Ranch represents something beyond a single project. It is proof that the best architecture sometimes unfolds slowly, shaped by an evolving relationship between architect, client, and land over time.
